Quinny Zapp folded

Most baby items aren’t really ‘gadgety’. Most are highly functional, but lack the combination of elegant design and technical wizardry that comprise a gadget. But when I first came across this little stroller I fell in love on the spot. The problem was that my daughter was a little old to invest in another stroller at that time. Now, with the birth of her little sister, I’ve finally given in.

For our first child we bought one of those then-fashionable SUV-type prams with all terrain tyres. Sure, it’s great for walks in the woods, but it’s impossible to maneuver through busy stores and such. Like its car equivalent it’s bulky, heavy and doesn’t handle corners very well. Sure, it’s safer for pedestrians and it’s poor mileage will result in a better physical condition for mom and dad, but we decided we wanted a compact solution for short trips on paved roads. In comes the Zapp.

Quinny Zapp

The Zapp has no bassinet like full-size prams have, but it comes with adapters that allow you to mount your baby car seat (Maxi-Cosi). It can be pushed around with great precision using a single finger. And thanks to its brilliant umbrella-like folding mechanism it fits in the trunk of my modest-sized sedan with great ease. In fact I could fit about 6 or 8 Zapps in there, whereas the old pram’s wheels need to be removed for it to fit. After which it fills the entire trunk.

Since the Bugaboo, the bar has been raised for trolley and pram design, and I feel Quinny is the current reigning champion.

  1. Are the handles height adjustable? I’m looking into buying this stroller also. Where did you purchase it from?

  2. No, they’re not adjustable, but they’re at a convenient height for both me and my wife. It’s widely available in the Netherlands at baby stores. Don’t know if it’s possible to buy one online, but the http://quinny.com website is available in many languages so I guess it should be available in many countries.

  4. Hi
i can’t find an image how the zapp and the carseat look together - do you have one? how old does the baby need to be to sit in the zapp? i am debating between the buzz and zapp…obviously cost pushes me towards zapp….your thoughts?

one more questions - the buzz has the bassinet. is it really worth it?

    thanks!!!

  5. Hi Elisa. No, I do not have an image of the car seat with the Zapp frame attached. It looks pretty fancy though :).

I think you baby will need to be able to hold its head upright and sit in order to sit in any type of ‘buggy’. The first couple of months your baby will be far better off lying flat, which is why the Buzz would probably be a better choice for you.
