A friend of mine alerted me to this website, and it really is terribly addictive. As with all good things the idea is really simple. TheTenWordReview.com allows you to review anything in ten words. No more and no less.

This is the most exciting rumor I’ve heard in a while. There has been talk of a Google OS for a while, and if Google is seriously considering this, why not buy the runner-up company with the technically superior OS? And considering how Google makes everything they buy available for free, could this mean free OSX on non-mac PCs? Where would that leave Apple’s own PC hardware offerings? And the iPod?

I hope there’s truth to this rumor. A move like this could really stir things up, which is always a good thing ;).

Safari bookmark dialog

Safari on Windows not only has it’s own font render engine, it’s own brushed metal look, centered window title, it also adheres to the Mac OSX convention as far as button ordering goes. Just consider how truly arrogant it is of Apple to do this. Why would they even consider this when the users they’re targeting have been using Windows for years and have grown accustomed to clicking the left button without even looking…

Bran Gardner’s Dropshdow theme

I stumbled across a site using a slightly modified version of Brian Gardner’s Dropshadow theme today and when I looked up the original I found it to be even better. It’s impossible to track all new theme releases nowadays, but of the ones I know I think its the best theme currently available for WordPress. Kudos to Brian. Great job!

Asus Eee PC

A while ago I blogged about the Nokia N800. It’s been released now but I won’t be getting one. Not just because the “sub $300″ price tag turned out to be closer to €400, but because Asus just raised the bar when it comes to small, portable internet devices. Enter the Asus Eee CP 701.

On June 14th 1997 I started my first full-time job at NOB Interactive, the internet branch of Holland’s (then) biggest audiovisual company. This means I’ve been a professional web designer for ten years now, to the day. From HTML 3.2 with lots of frames to tableless semantic XHTML, from 28k8 modems to broadband, from Futuresplash Animator and animated GIF to Flash 9. It’s been lots of fun and I hope to be able to keep doing this for a long time.

Apple Safari icon

It’s always based on an ‘Intel’ open source engine, and Macs are pretty much PC’s nowadays in terms of hardware. My guess is that technically, nothing has been keeping Apple from releasing a Windows version of Safari for years. And now they have. I for one am glad, as Safari is highly standards-compliant and might lure more people away from Internet Explorer. Competition is good, and if the PC version of Safari is anything like the Mac version I’m pretty sure people will like it.

Elro C910 wireless security camera

I bought an Elro C910 wireless security camera a while ago that I was planning on using as a video baby monitor. It cost me only about €40 and I have to say it works better than I expected. The image quality isn’t stellar and there’s some interference, but it could have worked well enough for my needs if it weren’t for one tiny little problem. Whenever the camera’s power is plugged in, I have no wifi reception at all anywhere in my house. I’ve tried setting my router to different channels but to no avail.
