Ok, thanks for the links.
I reckon i can put up with the occasional need for a power cycle, I haven't had to do it again since my last comment.
At least until new drivers are released anyway.

I have a problem with the newest drivers on the ASUS site as it is (under the 32 bit vista category). It says they are not compatible with the OS im using... which doesn't make much sense.

But hey, It doesn't seem to be that big of a deal if it only happens occasionally. It's not worth my trouble to reinstall windows, remove the battery and all the rest.

Hi Sam. I can reboot my PC as often as I liked, but with real cold starts the problem pops up from time to time. Disabling or enabling the adapter does not hang my PC. I've done that very often whilst troubleshooting.

See http://vip.asus.com/forum/search.aspx?keyword=attansic&search_type=by_topic&SLanguage=en-us for more info. The problem has been discussed quite a bit on the Asus forums.

For me it seems I'm stuck cutting the power until a newer driver is released that will hopefully resolve this issue. One thing I'm considering is the solution offered in this thread:

http://vip.asus.com/forum/view.aspx?id=20070926112335187&board_id=1&model=P5B-Plus&page=1&SLanguage=en-us

But since this requires me to open up the PC I haven't gotten around to it.

The power cycle seems to have permanently fixed mine, I am not required to repeat the steps you followed in order to make my PC work.

When I try to enable or disable my LAN in network connections, my computer locks up. Does this occur for you also?

I was unable to find any other articles of similar nature to yours here, do you remember what forums you found similar problems in?
