Taxi2airport.com = no show

I’ve been enjoying Suzero’s line of “incompetent companies” posts, so I thought I’d join in…

The internet is where you go to get a good deal, right? I order tons of stuff online, and have had only very few negative experiences. That’s why I felt quite confident ordering a cab to the airport (Schiphol, Amsterdam in my case) through taxi2airport.com. Big mistake.

There we were, 4 people, 3 suitcases, some hand luggage and no taxi to be found anywhere. I had even spoken to the driver over the phone the day before, who assured me he’d be at my house at 7 am. Calling the 20ct/minute taxi2airport number didn’t help much. After being put on hold for 20 minutes the voice response system told me the driver’s number was busy. So apparently he was awake, making it all the more inexcusable that he wasn’t awake right there on my doorstep. Calling me instead of the other way around.

We ended up calling every cab company in the neighborhood, and were finally ‘rescued’ by Taxi Blaricum. Not only did they get me and my family to Schiphol Michael Schumacher style, they ended up being cheaper than taxi2airport. I left my number on taxi2airport’s voicemail and emailed them from Mallorca, but both messages have gone unanswered so far (two weeks and counting).

So as far as my experiences go, taxi2airport gets a definite thumbs down. Talk about incompetent…

  1. We had exactly the same experience. Booked a taxi at 04.30 0′clock and no-show. Had to take own car to be able to be in Schiphol in time to get my plane. This costed me the “Long Parking-area” ticket for 15 days as Eur.128.00
I have an open issue with Taxi2Airport to have a refund of this money.
    It is a bloody shame!!

  2. Almost seems like their whole intention was to make that 20 cents per minute from angry customers than actually doing what they say they are providing…

  5. Hey guys, i think you don´t get it at all…
If you already had contact with your driver, than its HIS fault and not taxi2airports….
Would you blame ebay if theres a user whos not delivering the item?
No you wouldnt, you would try to sue the guy!
So if you guys dont understand the concept, please go back to stone age or at least read the remarks!

    • True, but I think taxi2airport should monitor if things go OK, and at the very least answer the phone and return my calls. They should’ve also removed ‘my’ driver from their service, and apologize to me for nearly ruining my vacation. And even eBay would intervene if I didn’t even get my order.

  6. I have had a bad experience with taxi2airport.
I contacted them to book a taxi Tegel to Berlin, they replied that they were unable to find a taxi for me.
I checked every day, no confirmation of a taxi.
A couple of weeks after I return I receive an invoice for €24.50 for cancellation fees. From the information I’ve seen on the internet avoid this company. you might regret not doing so.

  7. Booked a taxi for the family (2 adults, 2 infants), 3 weeks in advance. On the day the taxi refused to show up stating they could not get the child seats and left us high and dry at the airport

  8. Same bad experience here. No show, but the operator tried to convince me that the taxi was on it’s way, and only 6 km. away. 30 minutes later, still no taxi.

    My conclusion:
The concept is great, and at first it *seemed* like a great service. However, due to no taxi showing up, and due to the terrible service when we reported the no-show, and the related stress and aggravation, I must conclude that I won’t try Taxi2Airport again. It’s too much of a risk to maybe miss a flight. I can understand that a taxi is sometimes a few minutes late. But, when it’s a reservation for a taxi to an airport, more that 15 minutes delay is not acceptable.

Additional response to Hector, regarding this not being Taxi2Airport’s fault: it your service consists of offer a reliable booking-service, you are responsible for selecting your partners. Thus, if the partners you selected are not reliable, you’ve done a bad job in quality control of your service. So, yes, the driver is at fault, but taxi2Airport is still the initiator of the service. eBay does a good job, with the community, of assuring quality-control of eBay users. Taxi2Airport is not operating at tha same quality level yet.

    More details:
I missed my flight check-in time due to poor service through Taxi2Airport. On Sunday 14 November, I ordered a taxi through your site for a Monday 15 Nov. 9:45 dropoff at Tegel Airport, Berlin. I received a prompt email confirming the driver and 9:15 pickup-time. At this time, I was very impressed at the convenience of the service.

On Monday-morning, I send a textmessage at 9:00 to notify that we were ready for pickup. No reponse. I called at 9:15 to check if the driver was on the way. The operator said he was on the way, but might be a few minutes late due to traffic.
At 9:25, still no taxi. I called at 9:25, and according to the operator the driver was supposedly 6 km. away, and delayed by traffic.

At 9:35, still no taxi. I called again, and the operator said that we didn’t need to be at the airport at 9:45, since the flight was leaving at 11:10. Firstly, it’s not up to the operator to decide what time I should be at the airport. If I book a 9:45 dropoff at the airport, that’s what I book, regardless of anything else.

    >From 9:40, on, my calls were not being answered anymore. At 9:55 we walked to a big road with our luggage, and flagged a taxi down. While calling to the airport, I missed two calls around 10:05 am. possibly from the taxi-service. I did not have time to return the call, since I was trying to get on the phone to the gate, to ensure that they new we were on the way,

Upon final arrival at the airport, the gate was already closed. We were too late to check in our luggage, but managed to get on to the flight with carry-on.

  10. Taxi2Airport is a big bullshit.

They lie, they make wrong prices (to high), they “forget” some trips so you dont catch your flight… and at their “customer service” are only guys like “hector”… “go back to the stone century” and so one… but who help the clients?

No one… FORGET TAXI2AIRPORT.de / .com…. NEVER, NEVER, NEVER MORE!!!!!!!!!! I booked a cab in Dresden (Germany) – and first they said “your fare is 26€ for a round trip”. After my booking, they said “its 26€ one way”… and as i said “no, i booked the trip for 26€ as round trip” (6 miles!!!!!!), they didnt send me a cab.
