The link from sourceforge only has a Taiwanese version of the Xandros OS. Very frustrating. Can’t figure out how to change the language back to english… any idea where I can get the original Xandros OS in english… would really appreciate it! Thanks!

Jack, I haven’t tried XEPC in a while, but the older version offered a choice of languages. Personally, I’d recommend going all-out on Linux and getting Ubuntu instead. 9.10 has full support for the 901′s hardware, and is the best Linux experience available for non-experts.

BTW, if it appears your Eee PC won’t boot from an external drive when you hold down the ESC key, unplug the AC and the battery and then put them back in. That usually fixes it.

Burned the ISO from Sourceforge to a DVD and booted from it. It loaded the OS, but the mousepad doesn’t work and the language is Chinese or Japanese. There did not appear to be any option to select a language upon booting. This is on a stock 901.

Any advice??????

no bootable partiton in table.
i cant get it to work. i have unpacked to a usb stick. tried to run the makebootable.bat it starts in dos. then runs but an error .
i believe windows will not let me write the syslinux.exe. any idea?
i would to try this os.

I followed the steps to install XEPC on my eee 901 but everytime I try to re-boot the computer it tells me to insert a bootable media. Any ideas?

Hi Kim. If you have a wireless router, your Eee-PC should be able to connect to it. Most recent one have a very advanced wifi card on board (‘wireless-n’), and connecting to your network should be as easy as selecting it and enter the security passphrase (WPA or WEP key, if any).

I’ve set up my Asus 901 to run Ubuntu Linux version 8.10 (which is a very good Linux distribution), so I won’t be able to guide you through the exact screens, but it shouldn’t be too hard.
