Last week’s Christmas celebration at work also marked my last gettogether with the people I’ve worked with for all these years. Saying goodbye to collegues I’ve come to regard as friends wasn’t easy, but the gift they got me really made my night. It will take a while to be delivered, but I can’t wait for my Nabaztag to get here.

In case you don’t know what I’m talking about, this cute little plastic bunny connects to your wifi network and reads you the news, notifies you of new email and can do all sorts of other cool things. Some of the cooler things are subscription based, but there’s also a ridiculously simple API which will allow you to make it do pretty much anything you want. This is going to be so much fun!

I’ll keep you posted about my findings when it gets here, and in the mean time I’ll have to convince my former colleagues to buy one for themselves as well so we can send ear-signals :).

  1. I got Merel a Nabaztag for xmas and after 24-hours we are still not online with it. Lots of strife with WPA access (although we seem to have solved that now) – and the Violet servers may be overwhelmed with all the xmas new-born bunnies… we ain’t getting on there.

Once we are up and running it should be fun though 🙂

  2. @Suzero: From what I gather the Xmas server overload is an annual tradition with Violet. From the fact that you mention WPA encryption I gather you got her the newer RFID sniffing, web-radio-playing /tag version?

Maybe we should introduce them once mine gets here? 😉

  3. Yes we have the tag/tag version (with belly button) as they call it. Don’t you? I wouldn’t go for the 1st version as it has no mic. But we’ll certainly introduce them to eachother once they’re online.

  4. @Suzero: Yes, mine will be of the /tag variety also, and as I just found out it will probably be delivered today. Did you get Merel’s online yet? Or is the annual blackout still causing problems?

  5. After a couple of mails to Violet, Supawabbit suddenly came to life yesterday. Apparently, the mac address/serial number underneath my bunny wasn’t correct, therefore Wabbit couldn’t connect to the server properly. All seems well now and Wabbit has rushed into an ear marriage with Nabaztanck…
